Watertown - Edward R. “Pete” Bell, Sterling Street, passed away Wednesday morning at his residence while under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County and his family. He was 81 years old.

Born in Watertown on February 21, 1933, he was a son to Edward J. and Leona Powell Bell. He was educated locally. Pete worked as a custodian at Friendly’s Restaurant in Watertown for many years.

A marriage to Josephine Scee would end in divorce. On August 20th, 1983 he married Hertha Marino in Black River, NY. He enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, landscaping, and fishing.

Surviving besides his wife, Hertha, are 3 daughters: Carol (John) Bell-Gilboy, Saratoga Springs, Christine (Pete) Corbett, Watertown, Sharon Johnson, Black River; 4 sons: Wayne Bell, Watertown, Edward Bell (companion Tina French), Watertown, Gary (Diane) Johnson, Carthage, Brian Johnson, Hawaii. He is also survived by several brothers, sisters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Toni-Jo McConnell, and 2 sons, Richard and Robert Bell, died before him.

There are no services scheduled at this time. A graveside service will be held in the spring at North Watertown Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
