LISBON - The search is on for a new code enforcement officer for the town after Christopher J. Sherwin took a job with the town of Morristown.
Mr. Sherwin said he plans on helping out in Lisbon until they can find a replacement.
Town Supervisor James W. Armstrong said Mr. Sherwin will be working on an hourly basis for Lisbon at a rate of roughly $18 an hour until the town is able to hire a new codes officer.
Mr. Sherwin was hired by Morristown in January.
Mr. Armstrong said the town is looking for someone able to work at least 18 hours per week.
Right now weve got applications for people to come and pick up the town clerks office, Mr. Armstrong said.
If all goes well, Mr. Armstrong said, the town board hopes to begin interviewing applicants in early April.
Weve had several inquiries, Mr. Armstrong said.
So far the transition has been smooth.
Mr. Armstrong said Mr. Sherwin planned ahead of time to stay with Lisbon to help out until his replacement is found.
That winter continues its icy grip is also helping.
Its a slow time of year, Mr. Armstrong said.
However, with warmer weather on the horizon, Mr. Armstrong said, it wont be long before the construction season is underway. The town needs a codes officer in place before then, he said.
