Norfolk man charged with DWI after vehicle goes airborne, strikes parked vehicle

MOIRA — A Norfolk man faces a driving while intoxicated charge after he allegedly drove off the road and went airborne before landing and striking a parked vehicle.

State police responded to the report of the property damage accident at 2:50 a.m. Sunday at 165 Patterson Road in the town of Moira.

Troopers said Zachary J. Michaud, 20, Norfolk, was driving a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser north on North Woods Road when his vehicle ran off the road near Patterson Road, struck a snow embankment and became airborne. His vehicle landed in the driveway of 165 Patterson Road and struck a parked and unoccupied 2011 Toyota Corolla.

His blood alcohol content was listed as 0.15 percent. Under state law, a BAC of 0.08 percent or higher constitutes proof of intoxication.

He also was cited with failure to keep right, failure to stop at a stop sign and unreasonable speed.

Mr. Michaud is to appear in Moira Town Court. Troopers said he was not injured in the crash.
