PIERREPONT - Clay Streit has been appointed as the assistant code enforcement officer for the town of Pierrepont.

Mr. Streit’s appointment is for the year 2014, and the post has an annual salary of $1,200.

Mr. Streit will assist Code Enforcement Officer Alton W. “Ike” Guyette.

Town Supervisor Thomas E. Latimer noted that Mr. Streit is currently taking classes to become certified and the co-CEOs will be a first in the municipality.

“Ike’s been having some (health) problems and he’s up in age. He’s not getting out of the job until he’s ready to retire though,” Mr. Latimer said. “We’ve never had it before. This will be the first time and we’re just looking ahead so we’ll have someone there. Clay is a good candidate. He has plenty of experience working construction and things of that nature. ... He’ll just stay on as the assistant until Ike retires. He’s been coming up every Thursday night working on building permits with Ike, just getting broken in and getting him groomed for the job.”
