A city man was arrested Tuesday evening on a felony drug possession charge after he allegedly possessed heroin with the intent to sell it.
City police said Cody A. Jones, 25, of 612 Academy St., Apt. B, had 0.5 grams of a white powder, which tested positive for heroin, under the seat of a vehicle he was sitting in.
In a sworn deposition and in a statement to Officer David W. Horr, Mr. Jones stated that he intended to sell the heroin, police said.
The bag was packaged in a manner commonly used in drug sales, police said.
He was arrested at 5:20 p.m. at Samaritan Medical Center, 830 Washington St., and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony.
He was taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, arraigned in City Court and returned to the jail without bail.
