Victim of harassment arrested hours later for weapons charges, assault

Michael J. Muckey, 27, of 315 Mill St., Theresa, was arrested on multiple charges including driving while intoxicated, assault and criminal possession of a weapon, only hours after he was the victim of an alleged harassment.

City police said Mr. Muckey was shoved in the chest and punched in the jaw on the 500 block of Newell Street by Walter T.E. Wright, 29, of 309 Broadway Ave. W., Apt. P1. According to the arrest report, the altercation occurred at 11:10 p.m. Wednesday.

About three hours later, Mr. Muckey allegedly was involved in a domestic incident at his residence. According to state police, Mr. Muckey threatened an unnamed woman with a long-barreled gun — either a rifle or shotgun — and assaulted her, causing minor injuries.

Shortly after the alleged incident, Mr. Muckey was stopped by state troopers on Commercial Street in the town of Theresa on an inadequate mirror infraction. At that time, he was found to be intoxicated. According to state police, his blood alcohol content was 0.12 percent. A BAC of 0.08 percent or above constitutes intoxication under state law.

Following an investigation, Mr. Muckey was charged by state police with third-degree assault, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, DWI and the inadequate mirror infraction.

He was arraigned in Theresa Village Court and held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $1,000 bail.

Mr. Wright was charged by city police with second-degree harassment and issued a criminal summons to City Court.
