BRASHER FALLS Wilfred Recore said he had been thinking about running for a political office when the opportunity arose for an appointment to the Brasher Town Board.
He still plans to run in November, but for the time being he has been appointed to fill a seat formerly held by Margaret Burns, who died in November.
Five residents submitted letters of interest for the vacancy, and they were interviewed by town board members last week. Town Supervisor M. James Dawson said Mr. Recore had unanimous support. Councilman John M. Keenan made the motion to appoint Mr. Recore, with Councilman Mark Peets seconding it.
A Malone native, he moved to Brasher Falls about 10 years ago.
He is a behavioral specialist and citizens advocate with North Star Industries. He said he writes behavioral programs and does social-behavior assessments and some in-house psychological evaluations. Hes held the job for 28 years.
