ALEXANDRIA BAY - Anne C. Kearns, 87, resident of Alexandria Bay and Key West, FL passed away Thursday morning at the home of her son, Matt, with whom she resided.

She was born February 3, 1927 in Hot Springs, Virginia, daughter of Willard Franklin and Alice Bell Challender. She attended Mary Washington College in Virginia and completed her Masters in Early Education from Potsdam University. Early in her teaching career, Anne taught for both Watertown and LaFargeville School districts and later taught for many years at Sigsbee Elementary School, in Key West, Florida. A marriage to Edward Kearns ended in divorce.

Anne is survived by her two children: son, Matthew, Alexandria Bay, and daughter, Dolores Duffy, Montvale VA, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Her 3 sisters and 1 brother predeceased her.

Calling hours will be Thursday evening from 6-8pm at Costello Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 8pm with Fr. Douglas Comstock, officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County.
