William Shakespeares Twelfth Night will be the premiere production in the new Proscenium Theater in SUNY Potsdams Performing Arts Center.
The show opens Thursday with performances continuing through Sunday, April 13.
It will be staged at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays this week and next week. There also will be two Sunday matinees, at 2 p.m. this weekend and on April 13.
The colleges department of theater and dance is staging one of Shakespeares best bawdy comedies, featuring unrequited love, mistaken identity, pranks and a happy ending. Set on a modern-day Caribbean island, this production not only dispenses with Elizabethan restrictions that traditionally denied female actors a place on the stage it also has women portraying many of the male characters.
SUNY Potsdam alumnus and lecturer Don Mandigo is the director of Twelfth Night.
