Greyson Day raises over $7,000 for local boy with leukemia

CHAUMONT — “Greyson Day” at the Chaumont Fire Department hall raised more than $7,000 for a little boy battling leukemia. The all-day fundraiser Saturday began with a pancake breakfast at 6 a.m. and included a chicken barbecue lunch, a bake sale, raffles and sales of local goods. The day ended at 10 p.m. with a dance.

Event organizer Holly L. Rubacha, said the community showed an overwhelming amount of support for 21-month old Greyson Trottier, son of Lyme Central School first-grade teacher Christina Trottier. The money will help cover travel and co-pays for Greyson’s medical treatments at Golisano Children’s Hospital, Syracuse.

“Greyson Day” had a little something for everyone, the organizer said. For children there was a face painting, a magic show, an LED light show and a dance. The vendors, all local, sold mostly handmade items including wreaths, wood carvings, clothing, soaps, lotions and paracord bracelets.

Mrs. Rubacha said donations are still coming in for Greyson. Anyone interested in making a donation can send it to 25877 Moffatt Road, Chaumont, N.Y. 13634. Make checks payable to Christina Trottier.
