Watertown man charged with aggravated DWI after crash

WATERTOWN — A 23-year-old was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated by Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies after a one-car accident on Route 283 at 3:05 a.m. Sunday.

Deputies said Demetrius D. Perrin, 983 LeRay St., crossed the center line of the road, lost control of his vehicle and became disabled in the snow in the shoulder of the southbound lane.

Mr. Perrin refused a prescreening Breathalyzer test and was transported to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, where his blood alcohol content registered 0.19 percent, deputies said. Under state law, a BAC of 0.08 percent or higher constitutes proof of intoxication. Aggravated DWI is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or higher.

Mr. Perrin’s vehicle was towed from the scene. He additionally was charged with failure to keep right, driving with obstructed view and refusal to take a breath test.

He was issued an appearance ticket to the town of Pamelia Court.
