OFA Key Club wins awards at state leadership conference


The Ogdensburg Free Academy Key Club was honored as one of the state’s top youth service organizations over the weekend as the teens won 13 awards and honors at the New York State Leadership Training Conference in Albany.

“The OFA Key Club, under the leadership of President Charlotte Miller, was honored for its extensive award winning youth service and leadership development program,” said Ogdensburg Kiwanis Club Advisor Jim Reagen.

“With over 250 clubs across the state, the Ogdensburg Club was recognized by judges for its extensive student-led community service program,” said Faculty Advisor Christina Frank.

Awards and honors included:

■ Earned the Diamond Level Award for New York’s top service program, tying with three other clubs, including Norwood-Norfolk Key Club.

■ First place Interclub Award for its leadership development program with Eastern Ontario and Ottawa, Canada Key Clubs.

■ First place Kiwanis Relations for its extensive activities with the Ogdensburg Kiwanis Club and its service programs.

■ Outstanding President Charlotte Miller.

■ Outstanding Vice President Martin Arquette.

■ Outstanding Treasurer Melissa Jones.

■ Distinguished Lt. Governor Laken Kelly.

■ Second place Single Service Silver Division for Kids Kingdom Playground.

■ Second place Major Emphasis Program for its spring and fall youth talent shows and extensive youth program.

■ Second place for total hours of community service to benefit Major Emphasis programs.

■ Honored Executive Assistant Nabiha Qudsi, a senior at OFA, for her service to the state board of directors.

■ Recognized Distinguished Key Club members were Kate Sweeney, Austin Putman, Charlotte Miller and Laken Kelly

■ Division 24 Kiwanis Relations Award

The OFA Key Club is sponsored by the Ogdensburg Kiwanis Club.
