Winner: The Jefferson County American Legion Auxiliary chose Delaney Enya Oliver, Sackets Harbor, as its 2014 Poppy Princess on March 22.

Delaney, 11, is the daughter of Kevin and Dara Oliver, Sackets Harbor, and granddaughter of MaryAnn Oliver, Melbourne Beach, Fla., and Dexter, and David Bulterman Sr., Alexandria Bay. She is a sixth-grader at Sackets Harbor Central School and an active junior member of the auxiliary with Unit 1757. She recently competed with her team the Rainbow Chefs at the North Country Jr. Iron Chef Competition and is learning to play the flute.

For her title, Delaney was judged on her recitation, by memory, of a section of the poem “In Flanders Fields” by John McCrae, as well as poise, costume and use of poppy props. She is an ambassador for the auxiliary and its poppy program for the year, including appearances and parades.
