Kenneth J. Goodway Sr., age 84, resident of Richland, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014, at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Florida. He was born December 12, 1929 in Oswego. Kenneth retired from the Operating Engineers Local 545, where he was a 50-year member. He also served in the United States Army in the 31st Infantry, 7th Calvary and was a veteran of the Korean War, where he served two tours. Ken Rusty also raced stock cars at Oswego Speedway from 1958 until 1960. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Surviving are his children, Brenda Auten of Ocala, FL, George (Leslie) Goodway of Richland, Kenneth (Angela) Goodway Jr. of Richland, and Mark Goodway of Oswego, three grandchildren, Dorothy (Duke) West of Virginia, James (Melissa) Auten of Ocala, FL and Sara Goodway (David Valley) of Richland, three step-grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Jorgenson- Howard of Scriba, Joshua Jorgenson of Liverpool and Savannah (Caleb) Snyder of Sandy Creek, three great-grandchildren Miles Auten of Ocala, FL, Dustin and Dayton Valley of Richland, three step-great grandchildren, Gavin Jorgenson and Abbigail and Addalynn Snyder. Kenneth was predeceased by his wife Dorothy (Love) Goodway and a son in-law, Richard Auten.
Calling hours will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014, at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski, NY 13142. A Memorial Service will be held 3 p.m. immediately following calling hours. The family would like to invite friends to join them after the service at the Pulaski VFW to share a meal and memories of Kenneth.
