Allen rolls double double to lead Thunder bantams to semis at 14U nationals

HACKENSACK. N.J. - Cole Allen scored two goals and added two helpers to lead the St. Lawrence Thunder to a 6-2 victory over Hollydell in a Tier II 14U quarterfinal round matchup Saturday morning.

The Thunder will meet the highly touted USA Eagles, who downed the Boston Jr. Eagles 6-2 in the quarters, in a 6 p.m. faceoff. The Miami Toros will face off against the Warwick Wildcats in the other semi.

Nathan Bressard also scored twice and Kyler Head (1-1) and Corson Green had solo tallies for the Thunder. Joshua Underwood was credited with two assists, and Mark Mahoney had one helper in the win. Merrick Taraska had 22 saves for the Thunder.

The Massena Minor Hockey-sanctioned Thunder had three special teams in their Saturday morning affair - powerplay goals by Allen and Green and a short handed goal by Head.

The semi-final matchup features two teams that have yet to lose at the national tournament. USA Eagles blanked Warwick 5-0, dropped Camillus 6-0 and edged the Cleveland Barons 3-2.
