John A. Fraser, 60, of State Rt. 3, Watertown, passed away Friday, April 4th at his home.
Calling hours will be from 4 pm - 7 pm Wednesday, April 9th at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, with a prayer service will follow. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery for the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham St., Watertown, NY 13601.
John was born in Watertown, December 23, 1953, a son to William and Margaret Baker Fraser. He graduated from Watertown High School. Following high school, he moved to Ft. Collins Colorado where he worked in construction. John returned to Watertown and graduated from Jefferson Community College with an associate degree in Math / Science in 1982.
He went to work for the New York State Department of Transportation in 1983 and currently held the position as principal engineering technician at the Rt. 342 D.O.T. location.
John was a former member and EMT with the Town of Watertown Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Squad. He is a communicant of Holy Family. John enjoyed working with computers, tending to his cat Dude and playing golf in the Thursday night State league at Willowbrook. Of all of Johns accomplishments, he would want to be remembered as a loving and devoted father.
John is survived by his children, daughter Randi Fraser, Watertown and son Shawn Fraser of Syracuse. His brother and sister-in-law James (Midge) Fraser, Watertown; his sister and brother-in-law, Janet (Richard) Danehy, Goleta, CA. Nieces and nephews. His friend and former wife of 13 years, Deborah Cronk Fraser, Watertown. A brother Robert died in infancy.
