Susanne M. Arens, formerly of Carthage and Croghan, and now of St. Regis Falls, will be taking part in the Dream Bigger! Narcolepsy Walkathon Saturday, April 26, in Hudson River Park, New York City.

Symptoms of narcolepsy include excessive daytime sleepiness. Narcoleptics go into “dream sleep” during the day and often feel the need to nap. Mrs. Arens, 65, was diagnosed as having narcolepsy 31 years ago. She also has additional symptoms, such as cataplexy, or a loss of muscle tone.

Walkathon donations will support the work of Narcolepsy Network, a nationwide nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing early diagnosis of narcolepsy, advocating for and supporting persons with narcolepsy and their families, and promoting research for treatment and a cure.
