State Se. Patricia A. Ritchie, R-Heuvelton, has announced she is now accepting nominations for her Golden Apple Award for Teaching Excellence, an honor designed to recognize teachers who go above and beyond to help students succeed.
Last year, Senator Ritchie honored more than 40 educators from Oswego, Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties for their dedication and commitment to education.
Teachers in Oswego, Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties are eligible for nomination. Nomination forms can be found on Senator Ritchies website, www.ritchie.nysenate.gov, or those interested in suggesting an individual for the award may call (315) 782-3418 to have a form mailed to them. Nomination forms must be received by May 9th. All nominees will be recognized at a special event on May 30th.
Senator Ritchies Golden Apple Award for Teaching Excellence represents her latest effort in support of local schools and educators. Recently, the newly-enacted State Budget added $20 million in new funding for schools in the 48th Senate District, which includes Jefferson, Oswego and part of St. Lawrence Countiesthe largest hike in five years and nearly three times the increase proposed in January by the Governor for North Country and Central New York schools.
