Beverly A. Monroe


NORFOLK—Graveside services for 78 year old Beverly A. Monroe, 236 Marsh Road, Norfolk, will be held at a later date in the Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk. Mrs. Monroe passed away Saturday morning surrounded by her loving family. Beverly is survived by her husband of 57 years, Wayne; four sons, Carl Monroe and Naomi Phillips, Norfolk; Daryl and Pam Monroe, Massena; Scott and Dawn Monroe, Norfolk; Greg and Mary Monroe, Norfolk; a daughter, Sherry Monroe and Neil Urquhart, Norfolk; several grand and great-grandchildren, a brother, Frederick “Sonny” and Cheryl Colton Jr., Gouverneur, a sister, Linda and Frederick Markell, Ontario, Canada as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and her caregiver, Nicole Dishaw. Beverly was pre-deceased by her parents and a son, Timothy Monroe in 1972.

Born on February 15, 1936 in Potsdam to the late Frederick and Alice Brown Colton, Beverly attended school in Degrasse. She married Wayne E. Monroe on January 19, 1957 in Norwood. In her earlier years, Beverly worked as a cook and bartender in Star Lake as well as in Potsdam. Later, she worked at the Coach Inn and also at Haig’s Farm in Norfolk. Beverly enjoyed spending time with her family, attending Bingo, tending to her plants and she was an avid animal lover. Memorial Donations in her memory can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care or to a charity of one’s choice. Memories and condolences may be shared online at .
