I must respond to the column in the March 21 edition of the Watertown Daily Times written by David Fontana. Mr. Fontana criticized Elise Stefanik and Matthew Doheny for what he claims to be distorting what ObamaCare will do.
Mr. Fontana also states that the north country deserves the truth about ObamaCare. Well said, Mr. Fontana; that is exactly what both Ms. Stefanik and Mr. Doheny are doing.
Mr. Fontana claims that nearly 10 million more Americans have health insurance because of ObamaCare. What he does not report is that, because of ObamaCare, millions of Americans have lost the insurance coverage that they had and liked.
Mr. Fontana claims that health care costs have increased at slower rates since ObamaCare. Im sure there are millions and millions that can prove that to be a complete distortion.
Mr. Fontana states that when ObamaCare was enacted, the unemployment rate was 9.7 percent and is now 6.7 percent.
What he fails to address and fails to be truthful about is the fact that millions of unemployed people are no longer even counted as unemployed. Obama and his minions will do anything to hide the real facts.
Thousands and thousands of people have lost either their jobs or have been cut back to under 40 hours per week because of ObamaCare. If that is not reducing job growth, what is it?
The author states that ObamaCare has gone from promise to reality. Again, well put. The reality is that Obamas promises have gone to the reality that this is not working.
The real truth about this left-wing column is that Mr. Fontana is not living in the real world. He is living in Obamaland.
This writer says that honest debate is needed. Please, Mr. Fontana, follow your own advice and write honest columns, not just your far-left dishonest views.
