FORT DRUM — Investigators from the Army’s Criminal Investigation Command said they do not suspect foul play in the case of a soldier who was shot during a training exercise late Monday.

The soldier, from the 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, initially was taken to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse. The shooting took place on the post’s Range 52.

Fort Drum spokeswoman Julie A. Cupernall said the unidentified soldier has left the hospital and has returned to his unit.
