ALEXANDRIA BAY- Mary E. Gamble, 68, of Reynolds Road died April 10, 2014 at home.

Born on September 24, 1945 in Watertown, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Clara Pierce Carpenter and graduated from Clayton Central School in 1963.

She married Elmer C. Gamble on December 2, 1963 in LaFargeville, NY. The couple have resided on the Reynolds Road since their marriage.

Mary belonged to the Theresa Women’s Bowling League for 30+ years. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her family, going to Florida for the winter and collecting blue glass.

Surviving besides her husband, Elmer; are a daughter, Sara Calhoun and her husband, Robert of Redwood; three grandchildren, Charles Mathew Phelps of Alexandria Bay, Zachary Robert Calhoun and Rachael Amelia Calhoun, both of Redwood; one sister, Kathy Loveland and her husband Ernest of Gulfport, FL.

A son, Charles Edward Gamble, two brothers, William Carpenter and Paul Carpenter, and a step-father, Edward Elger died before her.

A Funeral Service has been scheduled for 1 pm Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Inc., Theresa, NY with Pastor Frederica Webb of the Redwood and Alexandria Bay United Methodist Churches, officiating. There will be a spring burial in Barnes Settlement Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Alexandria Bay Fire Hall following the service.

Calling hours will be at the funeral home from 11 am to 1 pm prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
