WATERTOWN — Looking for something to do with your children during Easter break next week?

The Sci-Tech Center of Northern New York will have extended hours, offering an array of activities for budding scientists.

Children will have many opportunities during school break to explore more of what science is all about during workshops at the agency, 154 Stone St., offered for children ages 3 and up.

Three hands-on workshops are planned for the week:

n 10:30 a.m. Monday — Parts of a Flower for children ages 3 to 8. In this lesson, children will learn about the biology of flowers and how they work.

n 11 a.m. Wednesday — Introduction to Ham Radio for ages 10 and up. Find out what it takes to become a radio amateur, and even learn a little Morse code.

n 10:30 a.m. Thursday — Parts of a Plant for ages 4 to 9. Children will learn such things as how plants get their energy, why they have roots and what a seed is.

Workshop fees are $6 per person and $3 for members. The fee includes admission to Sci-Tech exhibits on the day of the workshop. Workshop registration is required in advance, and may be made by calling the museum at 788-1340.

The completely volunteer nonprofit agency typically is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Sci-Tech Center members get program discounts and free entry to more than 320 museums throughout the U.S. and Canada.
