Bertha P. Raymond


Watertown- Bertha P. Raymond, 84, formerly of the Weaver Rd and Mercy of Northern New York, passed away Thursday evening at the Summit Village where she was a resident.

The prayer service will be 10:15 am Monday, April 14th at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home followed by an 11 am funeral mass at Holy Family Church with Rev. Steven Murray officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, April 13th from 2 pm - 4 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Church, 129 Winthrop St., Watertown, NY 13601.

She was born in Clinton, NY, June 13, 1929, a daughter to Edward and Leda Burgoyne Patnode.

Bertha married William F. Raymond September 2, 1947 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Rectory. Mr. Raymond, a senior engineer technician with the New York State Department of Transportation, passed away December 20, 2004.

Mrs. Raymond worked at Gibson’s Laundry, Faichney’s, and the Food Service Department at Case Junior High School for many years, all at the same time raising her nine children.

She was a member of Holy Family Church. Mrs. Raymond enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, cooking and canning, and visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Raymond is survived by her children, Gary, Watertown; Gail (Jan) Robbins, Watertown; Bryan (Charlene), New Mexico; Rita (William) Jackson, Lowville; Alan (Vicki), Dexter; Lee (Kimberly), Watertown; John and his companion, Mechelle McGrann, Brownville; Lynn and his companion Penny Decoteau, Dexter and Rob (Lori), Canton. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren. A brother Steven (Mary Rose) Patnode, Massena. Many nieces and nephews. Two sisters-in-law, Barbara Patnode, Waddington and Joan Patnode, Canada. She was predeceased by four brothers, Bernard, Vincent. Russell and Edward Patnode.
