Morrison’s donating mattress sets to Watertown fire department

WATERTOWN — City firefighters soon will be getting a better night’s sleep, thanks to a $30,000 donation from Morrison’s Furniture in Watertown.

The furniture store is donating 25 Simmons Beautyrest mattress sets to the fire department. Firefighters in all three fire stations soon will be sleeping on Beautyrest’s new memory foam product line, the Curv, said Alfred N. Davis, the store’s general manager.

When firefighters came in to buy some new bedding this year, Mr. Davis decided they deserve to sleep on quality mattresses. He said he figured the firefighters should be well-rested when they put their lives on the line. “I thought it would help the city,” he said.

Furniture store officials will make a presentation at 1 p.m. at the Emma Flower Taylor Fire Station, 224 S. Massey St.
