EVANS MILLS — An Evans Mills woman was arrested Friday after state police said she repeatedly made threatening calls to a staffer of a U.S. congressman. Sabine C. Edgett, 49, of 26720 Shepard St., was accused of repeatedly calling an employee of Rep. James A. Himes, a Democrat representing Connecticut’s 4th Congressional District, which includes the cities of Bridgeport and Stamford. State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation Investigator James R. Goodman said the incident started when Mrs. Edgett sought assistance on behalf of her husband, who is stationed at Fort Drum. The couple is originally from that district in Connecticut, Mr. Goodman said. After she was told to contact local government and that there was little Rep. Himes could do, police said Mrs. Edgett repeatedly called his office, demanding assistance, causing the government employees to fear for their safety. She was arrested at 11:08 a.m. Friday at her residence and charged with second-degree aggravated harassment. She was arraigned in Pamelia Town Court and sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $1,000 cash bail.

On May 21, Ms. Edgett appeared before LeRay Town Justice Larry G. Covell, who dismissed  the charge.
