DEXTER - Heuvelton eighth grader Alex Steele scored her first career goal on Thursday in a 13-5 setback to Watertown IHC in girls lacrosse action at General Brown in Dexter.

Jackie Sovie produced three goals and Olivia St. Pierre also scored once for Heuvelton (1-3).

Rachel O’Brien totaled seven points, scoring six goals, to spark the Cavaliers to a nonleague victory. Jaid Baytos scored two goals and assisted on two others for IHC (3-3) and Sara Pignone scored a pair of goals.

Goalie Allison McElheran made seven saves for the Cavaliers. Heather Thompson was the Heuvelton goalie.

In NAC Boys Soccer action Potsdam trimmed Saranac Lake 8-6 and Massena downed St. Lawrence Central Massena 13-5.

BOYS LACROSSE

POTSDAM 8,

SARANAC LAKE 6

The Potsdam boys lacrosse team rallied from an early deficit to defeat Saranac Lake 8-6 in a Northern Athletic Conference game Thursday.

The Sandstoners (1-3 overall) trailed 4-2 before coming back to claim their first win of the season. Max Warden led Potsdam with three goals and Billy Bergan tallied two for the Sandstoners. Dylan Gruneisen, Sammy Woods and Keenan O’Gorman also scored for Potsdam.

Jeff Stevens scored twice for Saranac Lake (0-2).

MASSENA 13,

ST. LAWRENCE 5

Sako Rourke tallied three goals to lead the Red Raiders (2-1) past St. Lawrence Central in an NAC game in Potsdam.

Andrew Bender, Kendrick Angus and Ross Driscoll each produced two goals for Massena. Hunter Pyke, Cole Allen, Rhoades Tarbell and Patrick LaGrow each scored single goals.

Isaiah Ryan led the Larries (2-1) with two goals. Nick Randall, Jake Sutton and Brody Simonds also scored for SLC.

GIRLS LACROSSE

POTSDAM 9, CANTON 3

POTSDAM — Another strong defensive showing helped the Potsdam High School girls lacrosse team to a 9-3 win over Canton in a Northern Athletic Conference game Wednesday.

Potsdam (4-0 overall) has already shut out two teams this season and has only allowed seven goals.

Kalie Grant scored five goals to pace the Sandstoners and Kalie Grant added three goals with two assists. Hannah Drechsel also scored for Potsdam.

Tess Knight led Canton (3-1) with two goals and Emily Pinckney also scored for the Golden Bears.

LACROSSE

SALMON RIVER 15,

POTSDAM 1

Russ Oakes scored three goals and assisted on three more as Salmon River defeated the Sandstoners (0-3) in an NAC game in Potsdam.

Skylar Thomas scored three goals with two assists and Alan Jacobs also scored three goals for Salmon River (2-0). Kyle Lewis and Karonhiate Lazore scored twice. Kason Tarbell and Iothore Lazore scored Salmon River’s other goals.

Max Warden scored for Potsdam.
