South Jefferson Central seeks assistant superintendent candidates

ADAMS CENTER — The South Jefferson Central School District, with the assistant superintendent poised to assume the duties of superintendent in July, is searching for its next assistant superintendent.

“We just posted the advertisement last weekend, and it will run again this weekend,” Superintendent Jamie A. Moesel said. “The closing date will be April 28, and that’s when we’ll start reviewing the applications.”

Mrs. Moesel said the district will review every application to find the best candidate for the job. She said it is interested in seeing applications from both inside and outside of the school district.

Mrs. Moesel will retire in July, and the current assistant superintendent, Mary Beth Denny, Adams, will take over as superintendent.

Like Mrs. Denny, Mrs. Moesel was the assistant superintendent before being promoted to superintendent.

Mrs. Moesel said the board will look for candidates with experience in all aspects of student life for kindergarten through 12th grade.

General responsibilities for the position will include supervision of districtwide special education programs and services, supervision of prekindergarten through 12th-grade student services and compensatory programs, and prekindergarten through 12th-grade curriculum coordination and professional development.

Interested candidates are asked to submit a cover letter, resume, transcripts, three letters of recommendation and copy of school district administrator certification by April 28 to Mrs. Moesel.

Applications should be mailed to P.O. Box 10, Adams, N.Y. 13605. For more information, call the district office at 583-6104.
