JCC professor to speak at Cazenovia commencement


WATERTOWN — Cazenovia College officials announced that Jefferson Community College instructor Margot Cheney Jacoby, a Cazenovia alumna, will serve as the college’s 189th commencement speaker on May 17.

Ms. Jacoby is an instructor in English and communications at JCC. She is an accomplished and published poet and two-time book author. Formerly, she was an assistant professor of effective speaking, academic writing, literature and creative writing at Cazenovia.

Besides her teaching and writing efforts, Ms. Jacoby is vice president of the Cazenovia College Alumni Association board of directors.

She started the Martha Papworth O’Neill Class of 2000 Memorial Scholarship at Cazenovia College, awarded to a student who exemplifies Ms. Jacoby’s daughter’s generous and loving spirit, passion for learning and sense of social justice.
