Richville - Janet M. LaMere, 82, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Country Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Carthage.

Janet was born January 24, 1932 in Willsboro, NY, the daughter of Gerald and Doris Bridge Tucker. She graduated from Willsboro High School in 1950.

She married Sylvester “Bill” LaMere on June 16, 1951 in Willsboro with Walter Page officiating. Mr. LaMere, a retired dairy farmer, passed away December 21, 1992.

Janet worked in food service for Gouverneur Central School for many years. She was a member of the United Church of Richville and had been a member of the Richville Vol. Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Janet enjoyed traveling and bus tours, gardening, flowers, and making crafts. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing, quilting, reading old western books, watching figure skating, and was an avid New York Giants fan.

Janet is survived by five sons Allan and Coleen of Heuvelton, Lee and Laura of Hermon, William and Kathy of Theresa, Danny and Amy of Sebring, FL, Timmy and Peggy of Fort Worth, TX, 13 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers Rodney Tucker of Minerva, William Tucker of Clifton Park, several nieces and nephews. Janet is predeceased by her husband Bill, her son Brian LaMere, and a brother Fred Tucker.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 19th at 10:00 am at the United Church of Richville with Karen Taylor officiating and burial in Hermon Cemetery. Calling hours are also at the United Church of Richville on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.
