William Christopher ORiley, age 85, of North Port, Florida, died on April 14, 2014. He was born on May 7, 1928 in Watertown, New York and came to North Port from Alexandria, VA in 1997. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a graduate of St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. He commanded the police department in Lake George, NY before joining the Office of Naval Intelligence in 1957 as a special agent, retiring in 1983. He was then employed at the headquarters of MSM Security Services, Inc., Maryland until 1997 and then its investigative representative in Southwest Florida until 2009. He was a dual citizen of the Republic of Ireland. He held memberships in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 8203; American Legion Post 254; AMVETS Post 312; National Association of Retired NCIS Special Agents Association, and he was a notary public.
Survivors include his wife, Julia Parrott ORiley of 64 years; a daughter, Catherine Mary ORiley of Grass Valley, CA; a son, Christopher Neal ORiley of Boulder, CO; three sisters, Mary Therese Scully of Milford, CT, Grace Elaine Noble of Zephyrhills, FL, Sharon Rose ORiley of Warsaw, NY, and a sister-in-law, Alice ORiley of Clearwater, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Edward ORiley and Mabel Corbett ORiley and by three younger brothers, Richard, Neal, and Bernard.
His interests were genealogy, bridge, collectibles and swing music. There are no services planned at this time. Inurnment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
