Fullerville - Peggy J. Matthews McIntyre, age 70, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014 at her home under the care of her family and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.

A funeral service will be held Monday, April 21st at 12:00 noon at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur with Rev. James Warrington, pastor of the Macomb Community Wesleyan Church officiating. Calling hours are Sunday 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Monday 11:00 am to 12:00 noon, previous to the funeral service.

Peggy was born February 5, 1944 in Gouverneur, the daughter of John and Norma McGrath Matthews.

She attended schools in Fullerville, Balmat, and Gouverneur, graduating from Gouverneur High School in 1962.

Peggy married George McIntyre Jr. on January 23, 1965 at the Gouverneur United Methodist Church.

Peggy was employed at Mercer’s Dairy Store, the Coffee Shop in Balmat, and she was a schoolbus driver for 29 years. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobile racing. She also enjoyed NASCAR and attending the dirt track racing of her son and go kart races of her grandson. Peggy had served on the Town of Fowler board of elections.

Peggy is survived by her husband George, a daughter Kim Hart Martin of Fullerville, a son George Boomer” McIntyre III and his companion Vickie Mandigo of Fullerville, her stepfather Dale “Dud” McKinney of Antwerp, 3 grandchildren Marcus Hart, Ryan Martin, and Rylynn Martin. She is predeceased by her parents and a son-in-law Matthew Martin.
