Doris M. Fitzgerald, 90, formerly of Calcium, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Samaritan Summit Village, Watertown where she had resided since October 3, 2013.

There will be no calling hours. The funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church at 11AM on Monday, April 21, with Rev. Jonas Tandayn, MSC officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery and arrangements are with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown.

Doris was born in Brownville on October 26, 1923, daughter of James and Ellen McCrudden Campbell. The family moved to Watertown, and she graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy.

On August 22, 1945 she married Paul F. Fitzgerald at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Benoit C. Dostie, MSC officiating. Mr. Fitzgerald, who worked at NY Airbrake for 41 years, died January 1, 2012.

She was the credit manager at W. T. Grant’s Department Store, Watertown. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church and a member of its Altar & Rosary Society, where she was a past president. She was also a member of the Dexter American Legion Auxiliary and a former Girl Scout Leader. Doris enjoyed flowers and gardening, and was an avid reader and baker. After her husband’s retirement in 1982, the couple moved to Port Charlotte, FL and returned to the Watertown area in 2000.

She is survived by her four children, Paul F. Fitzgerald, Jr. and wife, Betty A., Watertown, Ann F. Narrow and husband, James E., and Ellen F. Larkins and husband, Mark S., all of Calcium, and Peter J. Fitzgerald and wife, Sandra L., Evans Mills; three grandchildren, Darcy Green, Michael Larkins, and Matthew Fitzgerald, and one great granddaughter, Madeline Green; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, John D. Fitzgerald, July 5, 1976, and by her two sisters, Helen M. Campbell and Kathleen M. Hentz.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations in her name to be made to the Sacred Heart Foundation, 668 Thompson Blvd., Watertown, NY 13601. Online condolences to Doris’s family may be made at
