The St. Lawrence State Park Golf Course opened for the season on Friday.
The greens came through the winter in good condition and the course is all picked up, said Doug Horton, who leases the course from New York State. Right now it is just a matter of looking for warm weather for the things to dry up on the other side of the road (holes 5-8).
We dont have any carts right now and we are advising golfers to stay on this side (holes 1-4, 9) of the road. But we had some golfers play all the way around today.
The spring discount green fees will be $10 for nine holes and $15 for 18 holes, according to Horton, who is also happy to announce that his entire staff from last year would be returning and that Greg Sholette will once again direct the Mens Foursome League and the Ben Cordwell Mens Senior (55 and over) on Friday mornings.
Horton went on to say that the course can accomdate any number of golf leagues and that he is hopeful that a two-person league could be established.
Anyone interested in forming a league should call him at 393-2286.
We are ready to go and we are just waiting on the weather. We hope to have our concessions open by May 1 and we will have carts available as soon as we can, Horton said.
The OFA Golf Team will start practicing on Monday which is always great to see. We are looking for another enjoyable league.
PATRIDGE RUN OPENS TODAY
The Patridge Run Golf and Country Club will open today (Saturday) according to Director of Golf Kevin Maginn.
Because of the weather this is the latest we have ever opened. We will have carts available but it will be cart path only, said Maginn on Friday evening.
