WATERTOWNJordan M. Carter, 22, of 24100 Route 411, LaFargeville, was charged Sunday with driving while intoxicated after Jefferson County sheriffs deputies said his blood alcohol content was more than double the state limit.
Mr. Carter was driving west on Arsenal Street at 2:19 a.m. when he was observed moving from his lane unsafely and having an inoperable plate lamp, deputies said.
They said he told them he had a few beers at a friends house and was driving home at the time of the arrest.
After failing field sobriety tests, he was taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, where he was administered a breath test. According to that test, his BAC was 0.17 percent. Under state law, a BAC of 0.08 percent or higher constitutes proof of intoxication.
He was charged with DWI and the two traffic infractions. He is to answer the charges in City Court.
