WATERTOWN Divers searched the Black River bottom most of Tuesday to try to locate the body of a Watertown man after a canoe capsized Monday off Eastern Boulevard.
An aerial search of the shoreline failed to locate the body, Jefferson County Detective David J. Pustizzi Jr. said Tuesday afternoon. The Jefferson County Special Tactics and Rescue team and state police dive team could continue the search all week, he said.
Police still were not releasing the identities of the man and a local woman, both in their early 20s, who were in the canoe. The woman was pulled from the water to safety Monday by fishermen using ropes and tree branches.
She was treated at and released from Samaritan Medical Center but remains shaken by the incident, Mr. Pustizzi said.
