Lucas Hanss, Senior Patrol Leader BSA Troop 77, Potsdam, and Eric Hanss, Assistant Scout Master, BSA Troop 77, Potsdam, have volunteered their services to the Fort La Présentation Association War of 1812 Heritage Talks April 25 to 26.

Volunteering is a step toward earning the Boy Scouts of America National Historic Trail Award, which also requires them to locate and study a historic trail or site. To meet the requirement to hike or camp two days and one night along the trail or in the vicinity of the site, the young men will camp on Van Rennselear Point, the site of Fort de La Présentation.

Lucas and Eric will also cooperate with the Fort Association to restore and mark all or part of the Abbé Trail planned for the point. They also have the opportunity to cooperate the Fort Association on a public event related to this trail or the fort site.
