WATERTOWN — Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, a Democrat, leads Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, a Republican, by 30 points in the gubernatorial race, according to a Siena College poll. But if a candidate from the Working Families Party were to enter the race, Gov. Cuomo’s lead would drop by 15 points, the poll showed.

According to the poll, Gov. Cuomo leads Mr. Astorino 58-28 percent. With a Working Families candidate, that ratio drops to 39 percent for Gov. Cuomo with 24 percent each for Mr. Astorino and the third-party candidate.

The polls show Mr. Astorino gaining some ground. In February, a Siena College poll showed Gov. Cuomo leading Mr. Astorino, who had yet to enter the race, by more than 40 points. In March, the poll showed Gov. Cuomo leading 61-26 percent.

Mr. Astorino, a former radio executive who defeated three-time incumbent Andrew J. Spano in the 2009 Westchester County executive race, declared his candidacy in early March via a video announcement that took direct aim at Gov. Cuomo’s policies.

Mr. Astorino visited the north country last week, touring businesses in Carthage, Watertown, Massena and Potsdam as well as Fort Drum with Republican Matthew A. Doheny, Watertown, who is running for New York’s 21st Congressional District. In the eastern part of the district, he also appeared with Elise M. Stefanik, Willsboro, who is challenging Mr. Doheny for the Republican nomination.
