Strut your Mutt 5K set for May 3


POTSDAM - The Potsdam Humane Society will hold its fifth annual “Strut your Mutt”/Craft fair on May 3. The 5k dog walk offers a relaxed, family-friendly event with four water stops along the way. While the registration for the walk begins at 8:30 a.m., all other events and activities begin at 9 a.m. at Pine Street Arena.

Outside, Terry McKendree will be demonstrating his chainsaw art, and the kids can enjoy pony rides and a petting zoo with local farm animals from breezy Maple Farm.

Inside events include a Craft/Vendor show from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., including face painting, music, food, raffle baskets and over 50 vendors to visit. The new Pet Photo Contest will be on display. Vote on winners in lots of fun categories including: Best Costume, Funniest Pose, Owner and pet look-alike, Ugliest, Action shot, and more.

All proceeds from Strut Your Mutt support the operations at the Potsdam Humane Society and the “Pets for Vets” program, which provides free of charge companion animals for our military veterans.

Pledge forms for the 5K walk and entry forms for the Pet Photo Contest are online at, at the shelter at 17 Madrid Ave, or at Best Friends Thrift Shop, 8 Raymond St. Photos may be of any animal you have ever known!

Lots of prizes will be awarded from local business supporters will be awarded throughout the day.

Every dollar raised will help PHS care for the over 1,200 animals served each year through its lifesaving programs, including adoption, cruelty investigation, emergency rescue, reuniting lost animals with their owners, low cost spay and neuter program (SNIP), and Pets for Vets Program.
