Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo ordered flags at half-staff today to honor fallen Fort Drum soldier Spc. Kerry M.G. Danyluk. The infantryman, 27, of Cuero, Texas, died April 15 in Germany of combat injuries suffered in an attack April 12 on his unit in Pul-e-Alam, Logar province, Afghanistan.
He served with the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team.
We are saddened at the death of this young soldier, and we join with his fellow soldiers at Fort Drum in honoring his service to our nation and in mourning his loss, Gov. Cuomo said in a statement.
Spc. Danyluk is the second 10th Mountain Division soldier to die this year during a deployment.
