City woman charged with falsely reporting river jump

WATERTOWN—City police arrested Alison M. Harp, 20, of 1003 State St., at 11:43 p.m. Wednesday at her residence after she allegedly falsely reported that a woman had jumped into the Black River and that she was about to as well.

At 5:34 a.m. April 10, Ms. Harp called the Mobile Crisis Center reporting that she and another woman were at Waterworks Park, 1300 Huntington St., and that one woman had jumped into the water and she was about to do the same, police said.

The crisis center contacted 911, subsequently leading fire, police and local ambulance personnel to respond.

An investigation uncovered that Ms. Harp made the call while she inside her residence, knowing the information was false.

She was charged with falsely reporting an incident and issued an appearance ticket for City Court.
