WATERTOWN — A man remains missing after his canoe capsized in the Black River Monday evening.

A woman also in the canoe, who was pulled ashore by people fishing nearby, was taken to Samaritan Medical Center for treatment.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has not yet released the names of the two.

The two were rowing their canoe in the river at about 6:15 p.m. off Eastern Boulevard when the boat capsized.

The Jefferson County Special Tactics and Rescue team was involved in the rescue and search, as was the City of Watertown Fire Department, the Northpole Fire Company, city police and Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies.
