The Frederic Remington Art Museums 2014 Members Juried Art Exhibition will open May 17 with a public reception from 2 to 4 p.m.
The museum received 96 images submitted by 36 artists. Member artists submitted work from as far away as California. We are grateful for the membership support of these artists.
Juror Rebekah Wilkins-Pepiton selected 42 works to be in the exhibition, which will run until Sept. 28.
Come and meet the artists at the reception, see their excellent work, and have some fun at the museum. There will be a Best in Show prize of $100, second prize of $75 and a third place prize of $50, also an honorable mention award. At the end of the exhibition, on Sept. 29, a publics choice award, a framed print of Remingtons 1908 oil painting, Petes Shanty, will be announced. Anyone can vote for their favorite artwork until Sept. 21, at the museum or on the website, www.fredericremington.org. One vote per person, please.
Many of the works will be for sale. One third of the proceeds benefit the Frederic Remington Art Museum, and two thirds go to the artist. The exhibit will have an online gallery at www.fredericremington.org.
