GOUVERNEUR A Gouverneur man was charged in a federal indictment with distributing child pornography.
Frank J. Daniels, 36, of 48 Williams St., Apt. B, was charged Thursday by U.S. Department of Homeland Security agents with receipt, possession and distribution of child pornography.
Gouverneur village police assisted in the arrest. Chief Gordon F. Ayen Jr. said he was approached in April 2012 by federal agents who told him they were investigating Mr. Daniels, who, they alleged, was downloading child pornography to his computer.
They came with a search warrant, almost two years ago to the day, and took possession of his computer, Chief Ayen said. They presented the case to the U.S. attorney and got a federal indictment charging him with receipt, possession and distribution of child pornography.
Mr. Daniels was taken to Plattsburgh, where he is expected to be arraigned in federal court today.
No further information was immediately available from Homeland Security.
