Hermon woman runs into double trouble Saturday evening in Potsdam

HARASMENT - POTSDAM - A Hermon woman’s decision to drive away from the Potsdam Police Department after being charged with harassment early Saturday night turned out to be a bad one.

Village police initially charged Katina M. Erwin, 39, of Hermon with second-degree harassment following an investigation into a complaint she had threatened another person at 1/2 Tons. They said after being processed on that charge she drove away from the village police station and was stopped by officers after they noticed the window tint on her vehicle was illegal. She was also found to be intoxicated and was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Erwin reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.16 percent, double the 0.08 percent threshhold that is considered proof of intoxication under state law.

She was additionally charged with consuming alcohol in motor vehicle on a public highway folloiwng the 6:36 p.m. Saturday traffic stop on Market Street.
