WILLIAMSTOWN — Matthew T. Hoffman, 43, of 120 Turk Road, was arrested at his residence at 9:20 p.m. Sunday after state police said he violated the terms of a protection order.

State police said Mr. Hoffman is barred from contacting his ex-wife, who was not named, aside from facilitating visits with their daughter, or in case of emergency.

Mr. Hoffman, however, left two voicemails and sent 25 text messages to the woman that were not threatening, but were not either emergencies or about the child, police said.

This contact violated the order of protection issued out of Oswego County Family Court.

He was charged with second-degree criminal contempt and arraigned in Parish Town Court. He was released on his own recognizance pending an appearance in Williamstown Town Court.
