MONTAGUE —Lewis County sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene of an ATV accident about 10 p.m. Saturday on Pitcher Road and allegedly discovered the driver of the ATV, Brian M. Staples, 44, of Factoryville, Pa., was driving while intoxicated when he lost control of the ATV and struck a parked unoccupied vehicle.

Mr. Staples failed field sobriety tests, deputies said. A blood sample was drawn at Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville, to determine his blood alcohol content. The results of that test are not yet known.

He was charged with DWI, failure to keep right, not wearing a helmet and having unsafe tires. He was arraigned in Martinsburg Town Court and released on his own recognizance.

Lewis County Search and Rescue assisted at the scene.
