LOWVILLE Village police arrested Earl J. Smith III, 26, of 5349 Rural Ave., on charges of endangering the welfare of a child, criminal obstruction of breathing and second-degree harassment stemming from an alleged dispute between him and his father, Earl J. Smith Jr.
Police said the son put his hands around his 59-year-old fathers neck and applied pressure, disrupting his breathing, at their shared residence at 8 a.m. Tuesday. He also shoved him, police said.
According to police, multiple minors, including the younger mans son, were present during the alleged fight.
He was arraigned in Village Court and sent to the Lewis County jail on $250 cash bail.
State police assisted in the case.
