As some of your readers may know, I was a candidate for Congress from our district until the beginning of February. My reason for running was that I was as disgusted as everyone else is with Washington.
In the process, I spent time in all 12 counties in our district meeting with Republican Party committees and answering questions about the issues facing our country and our district. I was also able to spend substantial one-on-one time with the other candidates, including Elise Stefanik.
When she received the committees endorsements, it was easy for me to step aside and endorse her. Elise is smart a Harvard graduate yet jokes that she managed to stay conservative and a Yankees fan.
Elise cares and listens. She is doing this to serve us, not herself. She has enough Washington experience to know how things work and to know it is broken.
She has good and practical ideas on how to address issues. Her family owns a small business, and she understands jobs and how jobs are created. Plus, she has traveled the north country for more than a year listening our concerns.
Today, everyone can meet this amazing woman in person at the Italian American Club in Watertown. Stop by between 6 and 8 p.m.; this is free for everyone. Bring your friends, and let Elise know your thoughts and concerns and get to know her. I am sure you will be impressed.
