N-N boys move to 3-0 with track win over OFA; Massena, Potsdam fall


Tne Norwood-Norfolk Central varsity boys track team outlasted OFA while Massena Central and Potsdam Central came up short in NAC dual meets staged on a rain-soaked Tuesday.

The other meet of the day saw Franklin Academy outscore Madrid-Waddington 173-68.

N-N 124, OFA 117: In Norfolk, Connor Levison and Kyle Fulk anchored a group effort for the Flyers with two individual wins apiece as the teams split first-place finishes with eight each. Levison swept the hurdles races, leading the 110 in 16.1 seconds and the 400 in 1:02.3 while Fulk led the distance scoring after pacing the 1,600 in 4:49.8 and the 3,200 in 10:56.8.

Also notching solo firsts for the Flyers (3-0) were; Jake Wellings in the long jump at 18’3”, Deven Grant in the 800 with a time of 2:17.9 and Dion Aumell in the high jump at 5’10”.

The Flyers opened the meet by winning the 3,200 relay with Fulk and Grant teaming up with Connor Fulk and Tyler to post a time of 9:03.

Smith led OFA with wins in the 100, 200 and 400-meter races.

The Flyers head to Tupper Lake on Thursday for a key early—season tri-meet that will also include Franklin Academy.

Gouverneur 164, Massena 77: At Massena, Andrew Brush was the top individual scorer for the host Raiders after winning the long jump at 20’3.5” and placing second in the triple jump and 100 meters. Massena lone other first-place effort came in the 1,600 relay where Alex Batten, Brandon Fennell, Stephen Grigg and Noah Kormanyos combined on a winning time of 3:58.7.

Canton 116, Potsdam 88: In Potsdam, the Sandstoners were led by O’den Robertson, who posted wins in the 100 (11.8 seconds) and 200 (22.9 seconds).

Also gaining individual firsts for Potsdam (1-2) were Sam Lee in the 400 (58.0 seconds), Ebuka Ononye in the 800 (2:17.9) and Dan Stone in the long jump (17’11.5”).

The Sandstoners other win of the meet came in the 400 relay where the quartet of Ononye, Robertson, Stone and Taylor Prosper combined to post a time of 46.3 seconds.
